Nowruz Eggs
Nowruz is the Persian New Year, celebrated on the spring equinox (around March 20th) in Iran and other countries with a large population of Iranian heritage, such as Afghanistan and Tajikistan. One of the traditional symbols of Nowruz is the Nowruz egg, which is decorated with intricate designs and symbols. The egg is a symbol of rebirth and renewal and is often placed on the Haft-Seen table, which is a special table setting used to celebrate Nowruz. The egg is also the symbol of fertility.
The art of decorating Nowruz eggs is known as kākoo-daneh (کاکودانه) in Iran, and typically involves dying the egg with one or more colors, and then using a needle to create patterns on the surface of the egg. The patterns and designs used on Nowruz eggs are often symbolic, and may include flowers, geometric shapes, and calligraphic inscriptions.
Each family has their own way of creating these eggs and it can differ in technique and designs.
