Engraving (Ghalam-Zani) is a term, for artistic metalworking, it is one of the original Persian handicrafts, the art of engraving and embossing, hammering, repousse, and chasing elaborate designs, patterns, and shapes on metals such as copper, silver, gold, and brass to form minute detailed reliefs or small engraved patterns. Art engraving has a long history in Iran back to more than several thousand years ago.

GHALAMZANI 3 TIER CAKE STAND
Ghalamzani is a traditional craft originating from the Gilan province of Iran. It is a type of inlaid metalwork that involves decorating metal objects, such as trays, plates, and boxes, with intricate geometric patterns using a technique known as “khatam kari.” The craft is believed to have originated in the Safavid era (1501–1736) and reached its peak of popularity during the Qajar era (1785–1925). Ghalamzani is still made today by skilled artisans in Iran, and is considered a valuable and collectible art form.
