About Backgammon
Backgammon is one of the most popular mind games in the world; the same name covers both the game and the board it is played on. It is a two-player game where the movement of the pieces follows the numbers shown by the dice, relying on counting, focus, planning and luck.
About Khatam
Khatam is an ancient Persian technique of inlaying, a version of marquetry where the surface of wooden articles is decorated with delicate pieces of wood, bone and metal, precisely cut into intricate geometric patterns.
Designing inlaid articles is a highly elaborate process that took on special significance in the Safavid era. Woods used include betel, walnut, cypress and pine, and the works range from doors and mirror frames to Quran boxes, pen holders, lanterns and shrines.
