LARGE TAZHIB KHATAM KARI JEWELLERY BOX
This marquetry jewellery box layers two of Persia’s great decorative arts. Pieces of metal and wood are beautifully laid over the surface in khatam kari, while the lid is finished with a tazhib art painting, the gilded illumination style once reserved for royal manuscripts. Each box is made by an artisan based in Persian Heritage.

THE ART OF KHATAM
Khatam is an ancient Persian technique of inlaying. It is a version of marquetry in which artisans decorate the surface of wooden articles with delicate pieces of wood, bone and metal, precisely cut into intricate geometric patterns.
A tazhib khatam box of this size stores a full collection of necklaces, bracelets and rings, and the golden lid makes it a striking centrepiece on a dressing table. If you prefer the same size with eslimi patterning instead, see the Large Khatam Jewellery Box, or explore the full Persian jewellery box collection.
