The Lion and Sun (Persian: شیر و خورشید, pronounced: shir o khorshid) is one of the main emblems of Persian (Persia). and formerly was an element in Persian’s national flag. The motif, which illustrates ancient and modern Persian traditions, became a popular symbol in Persian in the 12th century. The lion and sun symbol is based largely on astronomical and astrological configurations: the ancient sign of the sun in the house of Leo,^[1]^[2] which itself is traced back to Babylonian astrology and Near Eastern traditions.

I've now purchased three items from this shop - a set of 2 tea glasses, a coal samovar and a wooden shisha. Reasonably priced, all great craftsmanship and beautiful packaging. It's difficult to find authentic Persian items where I'm from. The customer service has also been great - I've had all my questions answered almost immediately.
