NOWRUZ EGG – SYMBOLISM & TRADITION
Nowruz, the Persian New Year, is celebrated on the first day of spring and marks the renewal of life and nature. One of its most beloved traditions is the decoration of eggs, also known as Persian Nowruz Eggs or Haft-Seen Eggs. Traditionally, families paint hard-boiled eggs in bright colors and place them on the Haft-Seen table, a symbolic arrangement of seven items starting with the letter “S” in Persian.
The egg is one of the most meaningful items on this table. It represents fertility, creation, and the renewal of life. Alongside the eggs, the Haft-Seen table often includes:
-
Garlic (Seer) for health
-
Coins (Sekkeh) for wealth
-
Wheat sprouts (Sabzeh) for new beginnings
Add our handcrafted ceramic Nowruz Eggs to your celebration and enjoy a timeless tradition with a luxurious piece of Persian artistry year after year. Unlike perishable painted eggs, these durable ceramic pieces serve as both decorative art and cultural keepsakes.
ABOUT THE FARVAHAR SYMBOL
The Farvahar (Persian: فروهر) is one of the most recognized symbols of Zoroastrianism, the ancient Persian religion. It represents divine protection, moral guidance, and the eternal journey of the soul. Including the Farvahar design in our Persian Nowruz Eggs is a way of honoring Persian’s spiritual history and keeping its symbols alive for modern generations.
