Sal-e Balva, a Landmark Persian Novel by Abbas Maroufi
Sal-e Balva (The Year of Turmoil) is one of the most celebrated Persian novels by Abbas Maroufi, the acclaimed novelist best known for Symphony of the Dead. Published by Qoqnoos and now in its 47th printing, this original Farsi edition tells the story of Noushafarin, a colonel’s daughter in the town of Sangsar, whose life unfolds against the political upheaval of 1940s Persian. Over seven nights of memory and reflection, Maroufi weaves love, the suppression of women, power and tradition into a bitter, poetic portrait of a society where male authority and public judgement can shape or destroy a woman’s life. Persis Collection offers this Persian book as part of its Persian Books collection, with worldwide delivery for Farsi readers everywhere.
