This beautiful wooden handmade luxury chess and backgammon set is made of pieces of metal and wood, beautifully laid on and decorated with Tazhib art, giving an attractive flaunt to your home decor.
The gameboard has been made by an artisan based in Persian Heritage using high-quality materials, with a star khatam pattern that catches the light from every angle. At 60 cm it is one of the largest luxury backgammon boards in our collection.
The set comes with luxury Khatam Kari chips and a leather briefcase.

Khatam Art
Khatam is an ancient Persian technique of inlaying. It is a version of marquetry where art forms are made by decorating the surface of wooden articles with delicate pieces of wood, bone and metal, precisely cut into intricate geometric patterns.
Designing inlaid articles is a highly elaborate process. Inlaid articles took on special significance in the Safavid era as artists created their precious artworks. Woods used include betel, walnut, cypress and pine, and the works range from doors, windows and mirror frames to Quran boxes, pen holders, lanterns and shrines.
