About Zoroastrianism
Zoroastrianism, more natively Mazdayasna, is one of the world’s oldest surviving religions. Ascribed to the teachings of the prophet Zoroaster, it exalts a deity of wisdom, Ahura Mazda (Wise Lord), as its Supreme Being. With possible roots in the second millennium BCE, it enters recorded history in the 5th century BCE and served as the state religion of the pre-Islamic Persian empires for more than a thousand years, from around 600 BCE to 650 CE.
The Farvahar (Persian: فروهر) is one of the best-known symbols of this faith and of ancient Persian culture. Browse more of the Farvahar Collection.
